The german-speaking swiss write standard german, that's true - there is no swiss german official language (but still some literature, e-mails etc. using the dialect). the swiss can also speak standard german very well, but to them it's a foreign language that they have to learn how to use when they start school.. The best way to master a language dialect is just to go there for a living. our students from switzerland start with the standard german and master the standard german to be ready for the dialect when they arrive there. anyways, you need the basic.... I would suggest the best way to learn german and improve is to either have a private tutor (you might be able to find one on skype) or go to germany for a few weeks and do an intensive course. it's very hard to learn german in switzerland, because you hear swiss german everyday, which is not the same when you are first learning the language..
